OYHA BOARD MEETING MINUTES

November 15, 2006

Four Seasons

Members Present: Greg Johnson, Doug Voss, Terry Thompson, Shawn Pfieffer, Lisa Cochran, Sara Wencl, Jay Staska, Steve Cochran, Kirk Kiel, Dan Appel, Steve Martin, Julee Elstad

Greg Johnson made a motion to accept the October OYHA Board Meeting Minutes.  Steve Martin seconded.  Approved.

GAMBLING REPORT

Steve Martin motioned to approve the Gambling Report for October ’06 as presented by Greg Johnson, Treasurer.  Terry Thompson seconded.  Approved.

It was presented that Ann Paulson will be resigning at the end of the pool and dart season in March 2007.  Ann will write up a job description and get it to Gwen Lysne.  The new person will be an active member of the Association and Ann Paulson will train them.  Ann has done a great job and has all of our appreciation.

Dan Appel motioned to pre-approve the December expenses.  Shawn Pfieffer seconded the motion.  Approved.

Treasurer’s Report - Greg Johnson led a review of the financial reports.    Dan Appel made a motion to approve the financial reports as presented.  Kirk Kiel seconded.  Approved.

COMMITTEE UPDATES

Concessions – Steve Martin presented Dippin Dots should be ready in time for the tournaments.  On-line obstacles are being worked through.  He will compile an e-mail to address all issues 11/16/06.

Fundraising/Sponsorship –Dan Appel presented we will need tournament sponsors.  He has more letters to send out and some sponsors have yet to pay.  Jay Staska will be helping with fundraising in 2007/2008.  Team pictures are going very well and should have by mid-December. 

Ice – Terry Thompson presented that most teams are completely scheduled with a little wiggle room.  Will work on filling holes / empty ice throughout tournaments.

Equipment  - Goalie equipment has arrived and has been distributed.  Downstairs is 99% completed.

Coaches Committee –  No report.

Registration – No report.

Tournaments – .There will be a tournament committee meeting on Thursday at 6:30 pm at Webers.

Communication/Publicity – Julee Elstad presented that the website is on auto-pilot.  We are still looking for a display case for the bulletin board area.  Wearable order dates have been set.

Park & Rec – Debbie Mandt presented that players are insured by Park & Rec.  Deb must contact Park & Rec to be able to play teams from other cities.  Session 1 ends 12/30/06.  Session 2 runs from 1/6/07 – 3/3/07.  Doug Voss made a motion to keep session 2 at $75.  Kirk Kiel seconded the motion.  Approved.

Shawn Pfieffer made a motion to accept all committee reports.  Jay Staska seconded.  Approved.

OLD BUSINESS

Pizza Ranch  – This fundraiser earned up $425.

OGHA Maverick Event  – We donated $200 to this event from an approved motion made in an earlier board meeting.

Non-Participant Board Membership  – We cannot make changed to the bi-laws, has to take place at the Annual Meeting.  Follow-up with legal committee.  Steve Cochran made a motion to approve a membership fee of $5 for anyone without a child in the OYHA program.  Jay Staska seconded.  It was discussed that this supports the OYHA Vision direction to have the board with some members who do not have children in the program.  Approved.

NEW BUSINESS

Coaches Jackets:  Doug Voss made a motion to provide coaches with a jacket as stated in the Operating Guide for a maximum of 2 – 3 per team.   Jacket purchasing will be monitored by Coaching Coordinators.  Jay Staska seconded motion.  Approved.

Open Hockey:  Julee Elstad will approach the Four Seasons with open hockey open to the public instead of OYHA open hockey night.

Steve Martin made a motion to adjourn.  Seconded by Jay Staska.  Approved.
